Subterranean Termite Treatments
Soil treatments for subterranean termites depend on the type of building construction. Each type of construction, slab, basement, or conventional (crawl space), has structural features that require specialized attention to establish a physical or chemical barrier that prevents termite entry into the building. However, certain features of building construction require special considerations when attempting to control termites. In some cases liquid termiticides are not practical and other termite treatments are necessary.
After completing this course participants will be able to:
- Explain the different basic types of building foundations
- Describe the techniques used to treat soil for control of subterranean termites
- Identify various termite entry points related to foundation type, walls, and flooring
- Identify when the building construction requires a non-soil treatment to control termites
