SCAM WARNING!

It has come to our attention that Michigan builders are receiving solicitation calls regarding their continued education. Builders are telling us that the caller is attempting to impersonate the State of Michigan and is asking for a credit card number. If you receive one of these calls, it is a SCAM!

  • The State of Michigan will NEVER contact you by phone about your license.
  • The State of Michigan DOES NOT offer or provide classes for license renewal.
  • The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (or LARA) is the agency that handles licensing for Residential Builders. If you receive information from any other group, THEY ARE NOT a representative from the state. Letters from LARA will look like this.

If you receive a call from one of these scam companies, please help your fellow builder by contacting the Better Business Bureau at 800-684-3222

Please contact State of Michigan Bureau of Professional Licensing at with any questions (517) 241-9288
