Texas Architect Renewal Guide

How do I renew my Texas architect license?
California will mail a renewal notice 30 days prior to the expiration of your license. Email notices will be sent 6 weeks and two weeks before your expiration date.

  1. Complete 12 hours of Texas approved continuing education.
  2. Renew your license online or by mail.
  3. Pay the $108 renewal fee for residents who renew on time.

Where do I find courses to renew my Texas architect license?
Architects Training Institute offers a Complete 12-hour Renewal Package and an 18-hour AIA Package that meets requirements for Texas and the AIA. Our HD video courses are mobile friendly and available 24/7 on any internet capable device. You will be able to print your certificates of completion immediately after finishing each course. Architects Training Institute will notify the AIA  approximately one to two business days after completion. It is the student's responsibility to submit a certificate of completion to the State license bureau.

What happens if I do not renew my Texas architect license on time?
You will be charged an additional fee depending on how long your license has lapsed.

  • 1-90 days - $160.50
  • 91 days - 2 years - $213
  • More than 2 years - Your license is expired, you must begin the licensing process again.

What are the renewal fees for nonresident Texas architect licenses?

  • Licenses renewed on time - $200
  • 1-90 days late - $300
  • 91 days - 2 years - $400
  • More than 2 years - Your license is expired, you must begin the licensing process again.
