There are plenty of options for individuals interested in self-defense tools. Make sure you choose something that makes you feel comfortable and safe while keeping in mind the laws of your state.
- Tactical knife. Knives are a handy self-defense tool because they can be used for more than one purpose and are more effective than a gun at close range. You will want a knife that is both lightweight and sturdy. Look for something with a blade of three inches or more made from quality materials.
- Taser/Stun Gun. Tasers are both nonlethal and effective making them a favorite for many. A taser can be used to immobilize an attacker, giving you plenty of time to get away. Make sure you look at your city and state laws before making this purchase as they are illegal in multiple states and municipalities.
- Pepper Spray. Pepper spray is a longstanding favorite for defense. It is quick, easy to use, and generally, extremely effective. The spray causes severe irritation of the eyes, skin, and respiratory system. While it will slow most attackers down, it doesn't always make them come to a full stop.
- Tactical Flashlight. This item is both practical and effective. The flashlight has two settings: the first will send out 500 lumens, enough to temporarily blind your assailant. The second is a regular, effective flashlight. In addition to its blinding capabilities, the flashlight has jagged edges surrounding the bulb, specifically designed to strike an attacker and do enough damage to slow them down.
