Common Landscape Pests of the West Coast | Arizona Approval #24043

Instructor: Sarah Racine

Adequate pest identification is essential for proper management and knowing if the pest is the sole cause of the damage. Misidentifications of pests can cause you to choose the wrong management method or apply it at the wrong time. Identifying the plants to protect from pest damage and selecting a pesticide that won’t injure the landscape is also essential.

This continuing education course will review how to identify and treat pests in landscape, turf, and interiorscape settings. It discusses the following common landscape pests: weeds, invertebrates, vertebrates, and disease agents.

After taking this course, which is approved by the Arizona Department of Agriculture, learners will:

  • Recognize the appropriate development stage to treat a pest.
  • Explain identifying characteristics and symptoms of pests.
  • Assess the steps to send pest samples to a lab for identification.
