Pest infestations are a common problem in structures and can cause extensive damage to structural components, fabrics, furnishings, and stored items. In addition, some pests can transmit disease-causing organisms or cause painful bites and stings, while weeds can create safety hazards and provide a breeding ground for other pests.

This course teaches safe, effective, and economical pest management methods that prioritize the well-being of individuals and the environment.

With this Massachusetts Department of Agriculture-approved course, participants will learn to:

  • Manage pests in and around structures.
  • Inspect, monitor, and trap pests.
  • Control weeds around structures.
  • Apply pesticide formulations appropriately.
  • Manage common food pests.
